For Canadian Trades

Stop letting fees eat your $8,000 furnace installs.

A 3% processing fee on a $10,000 boiler install is $300 you'll never see again. Surcharging cuts that to zero — the customer covers the surcharge or pays cash, and you keep the full ticket. Dough is built for trades — Clover Flex in the truck for at-the-door payments, virtual terminal for invoiced jobs, and the Boost program reinvesting our margin into a free website, social, or AI for your trade. Two to three days to switch.

Trades have 4 specific processing problems. Most processors don't even know they exist.

Your processor was built for a coffee shop charging $6 a cup. Your tickets are $500, $5,000, sometimes $20,000. The fees that shave a coffee shop carve real money out of an HVAC business.

Big jobs, big fees

A $10K furnace install costs you $300+ in processing on a typical processor. That's a service call you just gave away to Visa.

You need a terminal in the truck

The customer wants to pay at the door. The countertop terminal back at the office doesn't help when you're in their basement at 8pm fixing a burst pipe.

Invoiced jobs go on net-30 ice

You finished the job last Tuesday, the customer paid on Friday by emailed invoice — except you don't have a virtual terminal so they paid by e-transfer that takes 4 days to reconcile.

Nothing back from your processor

Your processor takes 3% every month and gives you nothing. No website. No social. No tools. Most trades guys are running a business with a Facebook page from 2018 and a website cousin Mike built.

Three reasons surcharging hits harder in trades than almost any other business.

  1. Your tickets are big enough that the math is dramatic.

At a coffee shop, surcharging saves a few bucks a day. At a $80K-a-month plumbing business, it can save you $2,000+ a month — money that lands in your truck, not on a Visa statement.

  2. Customers expect to pay full price for emergency work.

Nobody's shocked their burst-pipe call is $1,800. A 2.4% surcharge line item on the invoice rarely changes their mind once their basement is dry. Most trades guys we work with see no measurable shift in card vs. cash usage after switching.

  3. If surcharging isn't your style, IC+ still cuts the bill.

Don't want a customer-facing surcharge? Interchange-plus pricing puts you on true wholesale rates with a 0.20% markup. Same Boost perks. Same two-day switch. Just no line item on the invoice.

Sample savings

$80K/mo HVAC business switching to surcharging

Old monthly fees on previous processor ~$2,400
Dough surcharge model fees ~$300
Monthly savings ~$2,100/mo
Annual savings ~$25,200/yr

Estimate based on a typical HVAC card mix and average ticket. Typical Dough customers save 30–60% on their monthly processing bill — the surcharge model lands closer to 80–95% reduction. Send your last statement and we'll show you the exact math for your business.

The terminal that rides shotgun.

Trades work happens at the customer's door, in their basement, on their roof. Your terminal needs to go where the work goes.

Kent at KK Services switched. Got a free website out of it.

"My old processor was a big company that gave me zero. Switched to Dough and they built me a website and run my social every month. Business has been growing since."

Kent — Owner, KK Services

Kent runs a general services business. Switched from a big-name processor specifically because they gave him nothing in return for his fees. Through the Boost program, he earned a free website and free monthly social media content for his trade — all funded by the processing margin he was paying somebody else anyway.

Built for trades that look the part online.

Most trades guys are running multi-million-dollar businesses with a Facebook page and a website cousin Mike built in 2017. Boost fixes that — funded by processing fees you'd be paying anyway.

Trade website with quote form

Five to seven pages. Service list, service area, hours, gallery of past jobs, online quote form. Hosted free at the Pro and Premium tiers.

Monthly social content

Posts for Facebook and Instagram every month — graphics and captions written for your trade. Up to 12 posts a month at the Premium tier. No video.

Custom AI assistant

A GPT trained on your services, service area, and FAQs. Lives on your website. Books quote requests when you're elbow-deep in a furnace.

Google review card

Free at every tier. A tap-to-review NFC card you leave with the customer at job end. They tap their phone, land on your Google review form.

The questions every trades business asks before switching. If yours isn't here, call us at (647) 691-9085.

Yes. The Clover Flex is wireless with built-in 4G, so it works wherever your service van does — driveways, basements, attics, anywhere you have cellular signal. It takes tap, chip, swipe, and contactless. Receipts print on the spot, and customers sign on the screen. Most trades guys keep one in the truck.
We add Authorize.Net for online invoicing. You email an invoice with a payment link, the customer pays from anywhere, the money lands in your account next business day.

Works for net-30 commercial customers, deposits on big installs, and jobs you finished after the customer left. See all terminal options →
Yes — surcharging is legal in every province except Quebec. The surcharge is capped under Visa and Mastercard rules at 2.4% (or your actual cost of acceptance, whichever is lower), it has to be disclosed in your quote and on the invoice, and debit cards can never be surcharged. Dough handles your signage and your provincial registration as part of onboarding.
Most do without complaint. A 2.4% surcharge on a big install is roughly $200 to $250 — most customers either pay it or write a cheque instead (which is what you wanted anyway).

If you'd rather not have a customer-facing surcharge, we'll put you on interchange-plus instead and the savings still come from cutting the markup on your processing bill.
Same chargeback process every processor uses. The disputed amount comes out of your account first. You have 30 days to respond with documentation — signed work orders, before-and-after photos, parts invoices, customer signoffs.

Trades that document well usually win the majority of their disputes. Dough doesn't fight chargebacks for you, but we'll coach you through the response.
Two options. Month-to-month with no early termination fees if you pay for your terminal upfront. Or a four-year term with a free or subsidized terminal and standard early termination fees if you leave early. We'll talk through which one fits your business on the call.
Boost is the part nobody else in Canada offers. Based on your monthly card volume, Dough reinvests its margin back into your business in the form of a free website, free monthly social content, a custom AI assistant for your trade, or a Google review card. Tier scales with volume.

A $50K per month plumbing or HVAC business qualifies for the Pro tier — that's a five-page website, built for free. See the full Boost tiers →
In most cases, yes. Dough's terminals work alongside common field service platforms like Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, FieldEdge, and Service Fusion. If you're on a specific platform, mention it on the call and we'll confirm before you switch — no surprises.

Make more dough from every job in the truck.
